SISCO’s COMTRADE Adapter integrates with the AVEVA PI System to enhance analysis and display capabilities for processing device disturbance files. Supporting IEEE C37.111 COMTRADE and PQDIF formats, this utility transforms PI into a robust disturbance analysis system and file archive. It simplifies storing and managing disturbance data, events, and files, automatically retrieving device files and historizing COMTRADE data by extracting individual measurements. These measurements are then associated with the underlying power system asset using PI AF and PI Event Frames for display and analysis with standard PI tools, such as ProcessBook V3 or Excel DataLink.

The COMTRADE Adapter automatically generates PI tags if desired and stores the complete COMTRADE file in the PI archive as an annotation, enabling restoration for audit purposes or offline analysis. Centralizing the management of disturbance records and connecting data to power system assets provides structured, time-based access to disturbance data, facilitating faster audits and improved access to critical data.

• Enables PI with disturbance, waveform, transient, and any other sub-second data stored in IEEE COMTRADE files supporting the C37.111 and PQDIF formats
